Operating Session on Jack Cutler’s PRR Juniata Secondary

When: Thursday, February 27th, 2020 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm

We will operate Thursday February 27th. Please plan to arrive at 11:00AM (or earlier). This is my first attempt at a weekday morning session for retirees (or anyone who is available during the day on Thursdays).

We will be running in fast time on the day trick (formerly called the Sequence A schedule) with the car card (CC) and waybill (WB) system that I introduced in 2018. This session will be the first time that we run the “reduced” train schedule with 8 annulled trains, which is designed to be operated by only 7 guests: one CTC Dispatcher, two yard operators, two switching local engineers, and two road engineers. That is why I originally limited the “Call Board” to 7 guest operators. But I had also promised 2 slots to Bob and Bill, so we will run with 9 operators – Bob and Bill will run the coal train and its helper, which were originally planned to be annulled.

The entire mainline is now fully signaled as a result of extending signals west to Marcia Park. This means we will no longer have a Roving Dispatcher. All train movements on the mainline will be under authority of the CTC Dispatcher. John Henry Low has volunteered to be the CTC Dispatcher.

As the session is now full, please sign-up on the “Extra Board” if you want to be an alternate in the event someone on the “Call Board” cancels.

About Jack Cutler

Jack is WebMaster of the CAPNYRAILOPS website. A retired Electrical Engineer, his passion in the hobby is - you guessed it - electronics and control. He is a disciple of Bruce Chubb and the C/MRI layout control system. He is also a WWII history buff, so his layout, the Juniata Secondary, blends his interest in WWII with his hobby of model railroading.
